BIO
Highly Sprung was built in 2006 by Goetz Custom Boats in Rhode Island USA as Stay Calm. She was raced in USA and the Med before coming to Australia in 2009 and sailing out of Melbourne as Calm. She came 5th in the Hobart race in 2011 and 2012 before moving to Perth in 2013 and being renamed M3. In 2018 and 2019 she was sailed by a Hungarian team out of Sydney. The boat was dismasted in the 2018 Hobart race and now sports a triple spreader rig from the old Ragamuffin TP52.
Mark Spring bought the boat in June 2022 and renamed her Highly Sprung. Mark’s previous boat was a Beneteau First 45 by the same name which won her Division in IRC and ORCi in the 2021 Hobart and was 8th overall.
Highly Sprung has shown steady improvement over the last two seasons as the team has gotten to know the boat, posting their first win on IRC, and consequently TPR at the first Act of the Pallas Capital Gold Cup 2025.
